Three Amigos – Ceramic Exhibition

Made In Clarkdale’s Corner Gallery announces the opening of the “Three Amigos Ceramic Exhibition”. Ben Roti, Michael Bolen and Luke Metz are excited to share their ceramic art collaboration. Each artist brings a unique vision and approach. Thinking outside the box is a quality all of these artists share. Come see where fine craftsmanship and art merge.

Although he comes from a long history of wood fired ceramics, Ben Roti’s recent work has transformed into hand-built functional pieces using low-fire earthenware clay inspired by the surrounding red rocks. He builds variations and creates unique layers in each piece similar to a natural landscape.

Bright, vibrant colors and a soft, supple finish are characteristic of each piece. Careful consideration is given to the feel and fit of each form, whether it’s a small whiskey cup or a tall, slender bottle. Ben’s ware is all food, dishwasher and microwave safe.

In the creation of clay forms, Michael Bolen engages in a dance with the clay that honors its ancient and sacred nature. The product of this collaboration is a wide variety of ceramic pieces both functional and nonfunctional.

In this show of Michael’s most recent work, Asian and primal influenced works in Raku, unique functional stoneware pottery and enchanting one of a kind Hobbit like birdhouses will be displayed.

The award winning art of Luke Metz makes a bold statement and pushes boundaries. Each piece is a learning experience for him and contributes to an evolution that is evident in his work. Luke’s attention to detail makes each piece special – “My art is the result of passionate exploration. ‘What happens if I do this or combine that?’ is a query that underlies much of my work. I am not looking for my niche – I want my artistic expression to continue to grow.”
